The women’s spring-summer 2027 fashion week opened in Paris on Monday. Dior and Saint Laurent share the spotlight this Tuesday, September 29, in an edition billed as the busiest in its history.
For nine days, Paris is once again the world capital of fashion. Since Monday, September 28, and until October 6, the women’s Fashion Week is unveiling the spring-summer 2027 collections, almost six months before they reach stores. It is a familiar quirk of the industry, and the reason a week held in autumn carries the name of the following season.
An edition on an unprecedented scale
The official calendar of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode brings together 101 houses: 68 runway shows and 33 presentations. According to the specialist press, that makes it the busiest women’s edition the French capital has ever hosted. The event is not centered on a single venue: houses are taking over locations across the city, from the Grand Palais to the Palais de Tokyo, as well as private addresses.
Shows are by invitation only, but many are livestreamed, extending the audience well beyond the front rows. The professional showroom SPHERE opens at the Palais de Tokyo from September 30 to October 6.
The kickoff, in the L’Oréal spotlight
The week began on Monday, September 28, with the L’Oréal Paris show on Place Joffre, where several public figures were expected, including Kendall Jenner, Eva Longoria, Jane Fonda, Cara Delevingne and Viola Davis. Over the years the event has become an opening marker, at the crossroads of fashion, beauty and spectacle.
This Tuesday: Dior in the afternoon, Saint Laurent in the evening
September 29 is one of the most anticipated days on the calendar. Dior shows at 2:30 p.m. The house continues on the path set by Jonathan Anderson, who is pursuing his womenswear chapter after presenting his first show for the house in 2025. In the evening, at 9 p.m., Saint Laurent closes the day, giving street-style photographers a rare back-to-back of two of the week’s most closely watched names.
First steps and dates to watch
The rest of the program mixes big names and changes of creative direction. Drew Henry makes his debut at Courrèges on September 30, while Chanel is expected on October 5, in the final stretch of the week. Away from the runways, house news remains busy: Dior announced on September 21 that its next Cruise show will be held in Shanghai on May 14, 2027, and Donatella Versace unveiled the same day a new personal brand, in a joint venture with the American retailer Revolve. Beauty will launch first in 2027, followed by a fashion line.
An industry in search of renewal
Between crowded calendars and new creative directors, the week is billed as a season of renewal. The question is whether this abundance of proposals will translate into genuine aesthetic breaks, in a sector that must balance creative showcase with commercial imperatives. Answers will begin to emerge with the day’s first shows.
